Introduction
The Renal Care Unit (RCU) at Teaching hospital Peradeniya was constructed in 2022 to provide care to patients with kidney diseases. It is one of the two major nephrology centres in the Central province and caters to an approximate population of 1.3 million.
The unit provides comprehensive care in all aspects related to kidney disease. It consists of a dedicated staff who provide their services 24 X 7. The renal care unit also has a strong research collaboration with Centre for Education Research and Training in Kidney Disease (CERTKiD) of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, and conducts research into many aspects of kidney diseases.
